Planetary Business Development

In a world facing interconnected crises: climate change, biodiversity loss, and social inequality, business as usual and design as usual are no longer viable options. Traditional business models often prioritise short-term gains over long-term resilience, while conventional design approaches fail to consider planetary boundaries.
To build a truly sustainable future, we need new ways of thinking, acting and narratives that integrate planetary well-being at the core. The Planetary Business Development Programme is an innovative and thought-provoking course that combines design thinking from a planetary perspective with new business logics, enabling the participatns to develop genuinely sustainable and measurable product, service, and business solutions that are socially, economically and ecologically viable.
Learning outcomes
You will learn how to apply planetary thinking directly to your work, aligning innovation, design and digital solutions with ecological limits and long-term societal wellbeing. You will strengthen your systems thinking, develop regenerative business concepts and gain tools to challenge outdated models with bold, future-fit approaches.
You’ll also be able to communicate sustainability in a way that inspires action and builds trust across your teams and stakeholders.
By participating in this training, you’ll position yourself as a pioneer in the shift toward regenerative leadership — designing strategies, services and cultures that thrive within planetary boundaries and create value for both people and planet. On top of all, you will meet like-minded people and strengthen your role as a planet diplomat.

UNDERSTANDING – redefining thinking and action
1. Introduction: planetary thinking and business
Planetary boundaries, sustainability crises and the role of business in systemic transformation. A new way to understand success, value and responsibility.
2. Systems and regenerative thinking
The complex and interconnected nature of phenomena. Solutions that restore, renew and strengthen life-supporting systems.
3. Futures thinking and scenarios
Identifying future alternatives and developing strategic foresight. Possible futures and planning that support systemic change.
4. Economic logic and value creation
Redefining value and success from a planetary perspective. Regenerative economic thinking, long-term well-being and ecological balance.
DEVELOPING - building solutions and approaches
5. Innovation and planetary design
Creating new solutions and practices from a planetary perspective. Addressing ecological and social challenges while generating value for people, nature and communities. Planetary prototyping and testing.
6. Technology and digitalisation in planetary context
Opportunities and limitations of technology in sustainable development. Critical assessment of technology and responsible, regenerative digital practices.
7. Nature, ecology and more-than-human life
Considering non-human actors in business. Perspectives of nature and animals and the human role as part of ecosystems.
ACTION – applying planetary thinking in practice
8. Organisational culture, leadership and HR
Embedding planetary thinking within organisations. Value-based, inclusive and well-being-oriented work culture. Also including roles and identities.
9. Operational models and practical change
Translating thinking into action through continuous experimentation. Practical models for integrating planetary thinking into daily operations and work. Including metrics, planetary indicators, feedback loops and tools.
10. Leadership for planetary transformation
Purpose-driven, value-based and regenerative leadership. Supporting people and systems through complexity, uncertainty and change. Leadership as a relational and ethical practice within ecosystems and society.
IMPACT – outward-facing change and collaboration
11. Communication, marketing and narratives
Constructing meanings, connections and future visions. Powerful messaging and new narratives that make planetary change visible and compelling.
12. Collaboration, dialogue and systemic influence
Change doesn’t happen alone. Systemic and sustainable transformation requires collective effort. Multivoiced dialogue, facilitation and approaches like the Erätauko method.

Price for individuals 500€ incl. VAT 25,5%. For companies 888 + VAT 25,5%.
Format 12 live online sessions (duration 2hrs each with a lecture and a workshop)
